Antirrhinum is the botanical name for snapdragons. There are many varieties and, depending upon when the seeds are sown, and what your winter and spring climates are, they will bloom most any time the nighttime temperature remains above 50F degrees. Snapdragons are showiest in early summer, before weather gets hot, but there is one variety, 'Royal Carpet', which blooms from early summer through autumn, regardless of the heat. Seeds of these snaps are available from Thompson & Morgan, Inc. (800) 274-7333.
