Can I move my roses now or is it too early. I need to move them to a new location as soon as possible. These are hybrid teas.

Thank You,
Lois Rancourt

Roses should be transplanted while they are still in their dormant state and the ground is workable. This will be late winter, early spring or late fall depending on your climate. So, if your ground is workable, you can probably safely move your rose. Try not to transplant on windy days. Before digging up the rose, generously soak the area the night before with water so you can move the rose with as much soil as possible. This will limit root disturbance. When moving very large rose bushes, you can prune to about half to facilitate moving. Replant in the new site immediately, BE SURE to water in well, and keep an eye on watering until you are sure roots are well established.
