| I received these seeds free so I couldn't resist planting them. I chose to start out with only one plant. It is growing wonderfully in a 3" peat pot under fluorescent gro-lights. I've never gardened before. Do I plant it in the ground, or would it do better in a container? Do I need to stake it? |
| Part of the fun of an experiment is to try different things. How about planting a few more seeds and treating the plants a little differently? You could put two in the ground, and two in containers. Stake one of each by driving three stakes into the soilaround the plants and tying the plants as they grow. Leave two of the plants unstaked to see how they do. Tomatoes need full sunshine and lots of water during the growing season. You can experiment with fertilizer, too, by treating one to half-strength fertilizer, one to full strength fertilizer and the rest with no fertilizer. Be sure to let us know how your tomatoes did! |
