| This can be a difficult spot to plant because the sun suddenly hits there at the hottest part of the day and the heat reflects off the house, too. You might try ornamental grasses, purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), sedums, yarrow (Achillea), Anthemis, and spring bulbs such as crocus and daffodils. If the soil is evenly moist, you might also try daylilies (Hemerocallis). Make sure to prepare the soil by adding organic matter and keep the plants mulched with several inches of organic mulch to help reduce watering needs and moderate the soil temperature. |
