I bought 8 Japanese Maples from 2 local HD stores. I live in the south Chicago suburbs. Do I have to protect them from Cicadas? I worry wrapping them will damage their delicate branches.
Thanks,
Jim Nolting

Cicadas will lay eggs on the branches of your Japanese maple. Rather than wrapping the branches, try netting the entire tree. This barrier will keep the pests from accessing your new trees.
