The Q&A Archives: Growing tomatoes, scallions and beens in containers

Question: Due to my lack of green space in the city, I want to grow a container garden. How big do my containers have to be for tomatoes, scallions, and bushbeans?

Answer: Tomatoes require a minimum of a 5-gallon container and ideally a half whiskey barrel. Scallions would do well in a deep 10 to 12-inch pot. Beans are not happy in containers.
