Some lemon scented or citronella scented plants have been said to have mosquito repelling qualities, however this is not a reliable repellent. The best way to limit mosquitoes is to remove all sources of standing water, including less-thought-of items such as tilted gutters, saucers under plant pots, tarps, and so on and then to wear an approvel repellent.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) offers recommendations as its web site that you may find helpful. You may need to cut and paste the complete url into your browser to make it work correctly.
