I have some snap pea seeds from last year that I am wondering if I can grow them this year... and I don't have time to wait around for a germination test. Should I just put them in the ground or do I need to get new ones? |
Pea seeds do not stay viable terribly long even under the best storage conditions. At home, they might last a year or maybe two under really good conditions -- cool, dry, steady temperature such as sealed in a glass jar in the refrigerator. Germination percentage will drop the longer they are stored, too. Since you don't have time for failure you might want to invest in new ones. |
