| I have 2 Crimson Queen Japanese Maple trees. They leafed out really pretty in April, but it snowed on them and now they look dead. Do you think they are dead or will they come back out next spring?? Not sure if I need to replace them or not. |
| I wouldn't do anything at this point. Usually when it's early spring and the plants have lots of stored energy they will replace leaves lost in a late frost. It just takes them a while to recover from the shock and to gather up the energy to replace the leaves. Just water as you normally would and take a wait and see attitude. If they do not leaf out in 6-8 weeks, the frost may have done more extensive damage than just nipping the leaves. Only time will tell. |
