When picking leaf lettuce such as Romaine & Red leaf should I pull all of the root or if I pull only the outside leafs will more grow throughout the summer? |
You can continue to harvest lettuce until the weather gets warm enough to cause them to bolt (send up a flower stalk). Simply pull off a few of the outer leaves from each lettuce plant for a fresh salad, leaving the center of the plant alone. It will continue to produce new leaves and extend your harvest time until the weather induces flower production. Enjoy your lettuces! |
