The Q&A Archives: plant blossoms

Question: Some of the blossoms on the tomatoe plants have turned brown and fallen off the plant.

Answer: Usually, blossom drop is a temporary environmental problem. Blossoms will fade and drop if not pollinated, if the plant is allowed to dry out (soil should be kept evenly moist like a wrung out sponge), if the plant is heavily overfertilized with nitrogen, or if the weather turns extra hot or extra cold -- especially at night. I hope this helps you trouble shoot.
