Help with watering - Knowledgebase Question

I planted two semi dawarf apple trees in clay type soil. I used miracle grow garden soil,how often should i water them? Can I water them to much? I also planted some rose bushes wondering samething about them.I also planted some annuals in planters how much water do they need? please help don't want to drown or starve any of my new plants.

There is no set schedule for watering. Your goal is to keep the soil slightly damp like a wrung out sponge, not sopping wet and not dried out. How often you need to water will depend on the soil and the weather (and for your container plants, how large the plants are in relation to the pot). To know if you need to water, dig into the soil with your finger. If it is still damp, do not water yet. When you do water, apply it slowly at the roots. Water thoroughly so it soaks down to the deepest roots. After watering, wait about half a day and then dig down to see how far the water actually went; sometimes it is surprising.
