Cilantro is Coriander, an annual herb that grows in full sunshine and average garden soil. Indoors will be a challenge unless you supplement natural light with either a gro-light or fluorescent lights. 8-10 hours of bright light each day should make your cilantro happy. As an annual, it it will develop flowers and set seed, and then die. You can prolong the life of the plant by regularly cutting or harvesting the leaves throughout the spring and summer months. If you allow it to go to seed in the late summer, new plants will emerge in the spring. Or, allow it to flower and set seeds, then collect the seeds and sow them in containers in the springtime.

Good luck with your indoor herb garden!
