The Q&A Archives: pruning apple trees

Question: When is the best time of year to prune apple trees. I live in southern Kentucky and have young apple trees that I would like to trim and shape them.

Answer: Apple trees are usually trimmed in the winter when they are dormant so you can easily see the branching pattern, however a small amount of pruning can also be done in summer. You may find the following guides helpful.
