| I have seen plenty of advice about using straw for mulch, and one for black & white of the newspaper for herbicide. But could i use the newspaper then lay hay down on top? I already have the hay. |
| Absolutely you can layer newspaper first then top it with any organic mulch you have available. Overlap the edges so you have continuous coverage and exclude light. One thing I should mention is that hay may contain seeds where straw is relatively seedless -- you can use hay but it may import some weed seeds. |
