The Q&A Archives: herbs

Question: when I plant basil should I let it flower or should I take the flowers off? Will this make it seed and die?

Answer: Cut the flowering stems off the plant as soon as you recognize that they are flower stems. If you don't, your basil will go to seed and then die. Keeping them from developing flowers will allow your basil plants to produce more leaves for a longer period of time.
