| In a shady spot or a spot with morning sun or bright dappled light all day you could try impatiens, tuberous begonias, variegated English ivy, or coleus. In a spot with afternoon sun you would need to try more sun tolerant plants such as lantana, calibrachoa, salvia, marigold, small dahlias and so on. Use a good quality potting mix formulated for container plants. Keep the soil evenly moist like a wrung out sponge. Fertilizer regularly with either a slow release granular fertilizer or a water soluble fertilizer such as 10-10-10 plus minors. Follow the label directions for how much to use. Also, the larger the container the better in terms of allowing ample space for the roots to grow and in helping the soil naturally stay cool and also stay moister longer. |
