| If there is a half day of sun, you could use low growing sedums, achillea, artemisia, thyme, or creeping juniper. If there is less sun than that you could try Waldsteinia fragarioides (barren strawberry), Mahonia repens (in a sheltered location with protection from winter winds), or possibly epimedium. Add some compost or other organic matter to the soil at planting time to help them become established and rooted. Using an organic mulch in between the plants while they fill in will help add additional organic matter to the soil and reduce watering needs while they are becoming established. |
