There are many different varieties of rhododendron that should grow well for you if located in a suitable spot. Rhododendrons need evenly moist yet well drained, humusy soil that is acidic. They also need protection from sweeping winter winds. A spot in morning-only sun is preferred. The Catawba rhododendrons grow very large and would make a wonderful tall hedge.
