The Q&A Archives: deer

Question: What are the best shrubs to plant that deer will not eat?

Answer: Unfortunately, deer will eat many different plants and learn to eat new plants over time, so there is no absolute list of plants that are safe from deer. However, here are some lists you may find helpful. Although developed for West Virginia, the plants should also grow well in your area. You may need to cut and paste the complete url into your browser to make it work correctly.

Your neighbors may also be able to tell you which plants the local deer prefer or usually ignore so far. Good luck with your landscaping!
