| I have a few varieties of clematis. Some came in a box and one is a few feet high. when and where is the best time to plant? |
| Clematis thrives in sunshine but at the same time like to have its roots in cool, moist soil. Choose the sunniest sites possible for your clematis and amend the soil with organic matter prior to planting. If you can plant them behind a small shrub, or decorative boulder which will cast shade on their roots, they will be quite happy. Failing that, you could grow a ground cover beneath your clematis. Plant them out in the garden now - the weather should be warm enough for them to get a good start on establishing their root systems right away. Don't expect a whole lot of top growth at first - they're busy getting their roots established. Next spring they should grow like gang-busters! Enjoy! |
