We have seeded some new areas. The grass initially comes up lush & green. Then after it seems to be establishing starts turning brown & dies. This happened last year in a different area of our yard. Could we be over-watering and watering at night could be causing the roots to rot? Thank you for your help.

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

The grass may be doing that because of overwatering or too much fertilizer or a weed and feed product. It also may be that you are seeding with a species that wants cooler weather. Those are better planted in the fall.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
