We moved into a new home and we moved from Florida. We don't know anything about plant here and we want to landscape our front our front yard. The front gets the morning sun and our ground is red clay. We have a big area to plant in and we want to do the work ourself. The problem is we don't know where to begin and the pro's charge a lot of money for plans. Can you give us some suggestions to get started?
We want plants that are hardy, we don't want to replant all the time either.
Thank You
Michelle

One of the best places you can look for ideas is Monrovia.com
When you visit their website you'll find several themed gardens including plant lists, or you can enter your zip code for a list of plants suitable for your area. Armed with the list you can visit your local garden center and look at the plants. When you find what you're looking for, check the plant tags to see how large they grow and place them accordingly in your landscape. Start small - you can always add more later!

Best wishes with your new garden!
