| I just purchased 2 Lonicera x heckrottii from Home Depot... the tag does not indicate whether they are evergreen or deciduous. I have read that Lonicera in general are dedicuous but that these are evergreen at the coast. Are they? |
| Lonicera x heckrottii is considered semi-evergreen, even in your mild climate. This means they will naturally lose some, but not all, of their leaves in winter. In general terms, most Lonicera are deciduous. Those that are deciduous but maintain their leaves in your climate should be pruned back in early spring, regardless of the leaves they retain. This is because new growth appears at the top of the vines and that's where they flower, as well. Hope this answers your question! |
