I have beentrying to grow tomatoes since we arrived here from California in 1994. I have been fighting with bugs every year. I have tried everything suggested. This year I have them in the shade and secluded form the other vegetables. They are about a foot and a half tall ready to start budding. What can I do to let the tomatoes ripen on the vine and not have the bugs attack at the same time. |
Carrie, I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up! Your question is difficult to answer because each bug is managed differently. I suspect the main problem is with stink bugs. These can be controlled with sprays applied early in the morning while the bugs are still sluggish. Your County Extension Office has free information on hand and can help identify the pests if you will bring samples of them in. That way the best product and timing can be provided. Your office's contact info is: 801 Main Street Perry, GA 31069 Phone: 478-987-2028 Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon! |
