| Ixoras grow best in acidic soils. Under that condition, ixoras are able to take up the necessary nutrients required to keep their leaves green. By their very nature, alkaline soils, soils with pHs greater than 7, have less iron, manganese, and phosphorus available for plant uptake. The symptoms you?ve described are classical signs of ixoras being grown in an unfriendly alkaline soil. Yellow leaves which turn brown are an indication of iron deficiency. It could also indicate a potassium deficiency. While potassium is normally available in alkaline soils, its uptake is probably blocked by the inability of the plant to take up sufficient phosphorus. Regular applications of fertilizers with minor elements are recommended to keep foliage green. |
