My crepe myrtle died this spring. There are sprouts coming up from the base now. Will these develop into a decent tree in time or should I scrap the thing and buy a NEW one.

Susan,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

You can choose the most promising new sprout and start a new tree from it if you wish. Cut the others back as close to the base as you can as resprouting is going to be a problem for a while.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
