The Q&A Archives: yellowing

Question: all of my annuals (petunias) and perennials (elephant ears) are turning yellow can you please advise? I got cheap potting soil and they werent doing well so I got good potting soil and mixed it and they were doing fine but now they are all turning yellow. I put osmocote on them when I replanted them with the good soil

Answer: Osmocote is a slow release fertilizer and it sounds as though your plants might need a boost right now. Try fertilizing them with a water soluable fertilizer such as Miracle Gro or Peter's. Feeding this way will allow immediate access to nutrients both through the foliage and through the roots. Best wishes with your plants!
