I have alot of bare spots and brown spots in my lawn. I use Scotts fertilizer and sometimes lime to green it. I noticed after I had watered really good a lot of little slugs in different patches. How can I get rid of them and green up my lawn? |
While slugs like to hide in tall grass, I am wondering, since you have bare patches in your lawn, whether what you are seeing are grubs or cutworms rather than slugs? The best way to know is to pick a few up and inspect them. Slugs leave a slimy trail; grubs and cutworms will curl into a "C" when disturbed. If they are slugs, you can discourage them by keeping your lawn mowed shorter; if they are grubs or cutworms, you can use one of the lawn products with both fertilizer and insecticide in it. You can reseed the bare spots by raking to remove the dead grass and then broadcasting seed over the soil. Grass seed normally germinates in 7-10 days. Best wishes with your lawn! |
