The Q&A Archives: peonies

Question: Can peonies be grown in florida if they are kept in the shade?

Answer: Jeannie,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Peonies just can't take the heat of a Florida summer and in fact the lack of winter cold and periodic winter mild spells are also a problem.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
