We have a busy street behind our house. There is a privacy fence separating our back yard from the street, but we would like to plant shrubs or trees to block some of the traffic noise. The shrubs can not be anymore than 15 to 20 feet high. What would you recommend that would be easy to take care of?

Sarah,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Studies show that while shrubs are great for screening a view they don't do a lot to stop noise. Nevertheless some good evergreen shrubs to consider are 'Bright N Tight' Cherry Laurel and medium to tall size junipers such as Wichita.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
