I am wondering if the Pentas (Butterfly Sparkles Mix) could be used in a hanging basket and would it also attract hummingbirds. I've had hummers pass by the house and want to plant a hanging basket & flower box with plants (full sun sturdy) to attract & keep hummingbirds in the area.

Pentas would be beautiful in a hanging basket, butterflies and hummingbirds like pentas, but, I have found the best hanging basket to attract hummingbirds is fillled with fuchsia. I think hanging baskets are under utilized as draws for hummers, when I was a child, my grandmother had a huge hanging basket of red double begonias that a hummingbird made a nest in! Some other plants that hummingbirds love include Snapdragon 'Red Rocket', Salvia coccinea 'Lady in Red', Cosmos, and Zinnia. Hummingbirds, in general, like flowers that are very bright in color, a scented flower is another draw.
