| Hi! I was told to add mulch to the root of my azaleas then add top soil and more mulch. Is that right?? I don't want to over do it. Thanks for your help! One more thing, can Azaleas & Hydrangeas thrive in close proximity? |
| Azaleas like acidic soil so adding compost or peatmoss to the bottom of the planting hole, and spreading peatmoss over the soil after planting your azalea will help acidify the soil. You can also feed with a specialized Azalea and Rhododendron Fertilizer which is acidified. Hydrangeas will grow near azaleas without problem. Be sure to water your plants deeply after transplanting into your garden, to help settle the soil and promote quick establishment of the root systems. Enjoy your garden! |
