| I have a forsythia and it is about a foot away from the my house. It is about ten to twleve feet high and there are not other sprouts coming out. This is two parts: what is the best way to propagation on this shrub, if there is no other spouts coming out of the ground and should I move the forsythia because it is too close to the house or is it ok to leave to were it is. |
| I think your forsythia is a little too close to the house. It will eventually widen out and that would make things a little crowded. If you have a sunny spot elsewhere in the garden, I think you should move it. The best time to transplant it would be in early fall or in very early spring as soon as the soil can be dug. Now would be okay, too, but you'll want to work quickly so the roots don't dry out too much. You can prune the top down by about one-third to make managing the plant easier. Replant immediately at the same depth as it grew before. Water to settle the soil, mulch, and water as needed to keep the soil evenly moist until it becomes reestablished. Good luck with the move! |
