Does deadheading promote additional blooms?

If so, How do you deadhead a Dianthus?

Deadheading almost always promotes new flowers. Your dianthus will produce new flowering stems if you cut the old ones off. Cut them back to foliage level and you'll see new sprouts emerge from the center of the plant.
