The Q&A Archives: Help animals eating my plants

Question: Looking for annuals and perennials that are not so tasty to animals (deer, rabbits, squirrels, etc.)

Answer: Unfortunately, many different animals may enjoy munching on a wide variety of plants. The following list of plants indicates the preference level by deer, so you may find it somewhat helpful. It was developed in West Virginia but the plants should do well in your area; flowers are listed at the end.

In my experience however the best long term way to deter animals is with appropriate fencing. You might take a look at the different fence and deterrent options listed by animal at the following web site as well.

I hope this helps.
