Why are the blooms falling off of my Big Boy tomatoe plants?

Is it true that Dawn dish detergent will kill fleas in your yard? We have an 8 year old bulldog and fleas have just became a problem in our yard and clothing. Please advise.

Steve,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Large fruited or slicer type tomatoes lose fruit when the summer heats up and temperatures at night rise into the mid 70's. There isn't anything in your power to stop this.

Liquid dish detergents can kill small soft bodied pests but probably not adult fleas. These products can also burn plants if mixed too strong or applied on a hot sunny day. I suggest you contact your veterinarian about options for controlling fleas on your dog. There are products with imidocloprid that last a month when applied to the dog and work very well. The following web site will provide more useful information.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
