Are my plants getting too much sun? I bought two bougainvilla plants about one month ago when both were at full bloom. I've been watering ONLY when dry and then just enough to wet. Both plants are hanging in baskets on the terrace which gets sun almost constantly. The soil gets so dry and hard I want to repot the plants but I'm afraid that both would go into some kind of shock or stress. It's really hot here in South Texas. Do you think I should take the plants out of the constant sun?? What should I do?

Gaye,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

Bougainvilleas love full sun. You could wait for the bloom cycle to finish or go ahead and carefully repot them or plant them now. I would be inclined to leave them be for now. Just continue to water as needed to prevent wilting.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
