Japanese Beetles emerge every May to devour all my roses, ferms, hydrangeas, and anything else they desire. I've sprayed Ortho Systemic Insect Killer (Acephate) directly on the little buggers and they didn't even blink. Any suggestions?

Nell,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. The spring rush has brought a deluge of questions and we are working hard to catch up!

When you spray it on the foliage they will try to eat it and then die. The product doesn't work instantly but it does work. The key is to stay at it and not let them eat any foliage that is not sprayed.

Thanks for the question. Best wishes for a wonderful gardening season. Please stop in again soon!
