When planting some Summer vegetables recently, I noticed that there were slugs in the soil. Is there a safe product to reduce the slugs?

Slugs are active at night and leave a silvery trail behind them. Slugs can be trapped using slug traps baited with stale beer, handpicked in the evening when they are active (drop them into soapy water), or you can use one of the new iron-phosphate based products such as Sluggo per the label directions.
