The Q&A Archives: PATUNIAS

Question: What does it mean dehead your patunias and how do you do it.

Answer: This is just removing the flowers after they fade to prevent the plant from using energy to set seed. Deadheading encourages the plant to continue blooming heavily. Snip off each individual flower. Be sure to take the bulge at the base of the flower (ovary)as well as the petals. It also helps keep the plant looking tidy.
