What is a good shrub for an area that is in the shade in the morning then in the sun in the afternoon? It's a planting space between condos that is surrounded by concrete on 3 sides up against a gray brick wall.

The site is probably very hot during the summer afternoons, with reflected and radiated heat. This is tough on most plants, but I think you'll have good success with Manzanita, Coyote Bush, Ceanothus, or Western Redbud.

Hope one of these works for you!
