How do you keep a dog from trashing/urinating on plants?

Fencing, if it isn't your dog; training if it is, are the best solutions. You can try temporary barriers (cylinders of chicken wire over the plant - far enough away so urine can't reach them). You might try deterrent sprays available from pet stores, or you might try running a sprinkler when the dog approaches. Wish I had more ideas!
