Creeping fig will grow in either sun or shade and prefers poor, dry soils. It attaches itself to any vertical surface by making a sticky adhesive. Sunshine or even radiated heat from a concrete wall shouldn't stop a creeping fig from attaching itself. I think maybe your plant just needs to mature a little bit before it is able to stick to the wall. Just give it some time and it will be scrambling up the wall all by itself.

Best wishes with your garden!
