Given the climate of my area, would it be possible to plant a gardenia plant in my yard. What kind of soil conditions, watering and sun exposure does it require. |
Gardenias are much to tender to be left outdoors all winter long. If you want to grow a gardenia, keep it in a pot that you can take outdoors during the spring and summer months and then move indoors in the fall and winter months. Provide morning sun and afternoon shade outdoors, keep soil moist but not soggy wet and feed every 2 weeks during the growing season with a half-strength dilution of liquid fertilizer (Miracle Gro, Peter's, Shultz's, etc.) Indoors, provide bright light, moist soil and fertiliz every 3-4 weeks. Best wishes with your gardenia! |
