| In general, cats (and other animals) will not bother plants that have fuzzy or prickly leaves or that are very aromatic (except for catnip, of course). Woody flowering shrubs would be sturdier than herbaceous perennials, and shrub roses in particular would provide color and fragrance for you and prickly thorns to keep away the cat. Lilacs are another possibility. There are commercial sprays that contain hot peppers and repel a wide variety of animals. You could spray this on any plant. Another trick is to locate a catnip patch away from your favorite plants. This will keep the felines occupied elsewhere. |
