The Q&A Archives: Palm Tree in Extreme Heat

Question: Can any Palm withstand temperatures upwards of 100 degrees. I would like to get a potted tree but must be able to survive the desert. Anything except a cactus.

Answer: Pigmy date palms love the heat, as do Mexican fan palms. Either will do well in containers for many years (before they completely outgrow the container). Best wishes with your new palm!
