We have white thick web like patches on under side of the hibiscus leaves and new buds. We clip/trim but with in one day the white dew returns to the underside. I have tried safe soap and neem and spraying with water. Still have pesty bugs. Do I need to tear them out?

Both Dursban and Orthene are registered for use against mealybugs in Hawaii. Be sure to read the labels to make sure they are safe to use on hibiscus. Or, you can try swabbing the pests with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. This should kill them on contact without harming your hibiscus. You may have to inspect your plants and treat several times to get all the pesky critters.

Best wishes with your hibiscus!
