I need a 4 ft max height shrub for the north side of my house (NO sun). It would be next to my front entrance and needs to be reasonably easy to maintain. We have tried yews, mungo pine, magnolia, a few different cedars, but nothing seems to last more than a year. We've tried to enrich the soil and fertilize to no avail. Help! I'm ready to fill it with stone. |
Don't fill it with stones! At least not until you try rhododendrons. There are several dwarf varieties that maintain a height of about 4'. If flowering isn't important, try 'Green Velvet' Boxwood; Northern Charm, or Northstar are also attractive boxwoods. |
