I have a large amount of ferns and would like to get rid of some of them, what is the best way to get rid of rids so they dont come back year after year?

You might be able to dig them out by the root, possibly to share with gardening friends. You could spray them with a nonselective herbicide containing glyphosate, be sure to read and follow all of the label directions. Or, repeatedly cutting them down should eventually exhaust them so they do not return. If the growing conditions are well suited to the ferns, however, you may see regrowth from spores from the nearby remaining stand.
